What if there was no St Johns?

Room 8 asked the question: What if there was no St Johns? To answer the question we had to first find out what St Johns does, what role to they have in our community and what would happen if they weren't there.

St Johns Visit

Today the Year 4 classes had a visit from St John. They learnt how to make 111 calls correctly, how to wrap a bleeding cut and learnt even more about what St John do for us in the community. Room 8: What did you learn? Have you practised your phone number and address?

Remember to keep bringing in old toys and books so we can sell them to raise money for St Johns.

Descriptive Writing

W.A.L.T: Use descriptive language in our writing.

We have been using descriptive language to describe different places.  Can you work out what we are describing?

Moon Hee

In the night sky owls are hooting and bats are flapping their wings rapidly. Stars twinkle in the night sky. The moon is shining above our heads. It’s pitch black in the night and stars shine like crystals. Fireflies have lights that gleamed brighter than the sun. Crickets are making loud chirping. At night it is cold, the birds are making beautiful music to sing to the other animals. Night animals play their lovely harmony. I can smell the wet fresh grass. The trees are swaying left and right to the wind. Leaves have tiny drops of rain that sprinkle all over them.  Animals are hunting for food in the moonlight. At night the sky is dark, black and creepy. Little creatures come out at night to search for food.

In my absolutely crazy bedroom I sometimes hear a flute, drums, a horn section, bugles, and a harpsichord playing. My absolutely crazy bedroom smells damp and woody like a cabin in the forest because of large leaks and crevices. The bed looks like a fort!  All through the room there are old bits and pieces that might come handy someday. Dad used to keep the violin there in the wardrobe. My room is like a dump! It’s got a large cloth on the wall that has birds on it and a plane poster as well! It is my absolutely crazy bedroom!!!!!

Tvisha
My messy bedroom is absolutely crazy with all it’s toys books scattered all over the fluffy carpet. My bedroom looks like a rubbish dump with all it’s stuff rapidly getting thrown by me or my most incredibly annoying little tantrum sister with a extremely loud shriek. My bedroom sounds like a loud woodchoppers cabin because my neighbours who are extremely  loud always chop the hard, damp, dull and brown wood. If I am quite close to the clear and strong glass, I sometimes hear the soft and soothing chirping of the tiny and colourful birds who sing sweetly all day long. My bedroom is as untidy as a bird’s nest with all it’s stuff dumped by the me like a bird which dumps it’s on it’s nest.

The night sky has lots of stars which shine like diamonds. The owls toot as a  harmony of flutes.  I smell something weird, it's like an animal hunting it’s prey. Fireflies light up like a torch. Bats rapidly flapping their wings as soar through the night sky. The moon nearly shines as bright as the sun. Birds chirp as they get ready for bed. Sometimes when it rains you can see tiny drops which look like glistening, glimmering crystals. You can hear puddles going splish, splash and splosh like rain drops splashing in the sea.
