Citizenship
W.A.L.T: Define Citizenship
W.A.L.T:
Define Citizenship
Citizenship
A citizen is a
person that belongs to a community where they all have something in common. You
can be a citizen of a country, city or a group. For example, people who live in
the same country, people in the same family group or people who go to Halsey
Drive School.
Citizenship is
when someone tries their best for their community. A good and responsible citizen cares for
their environment by picking up rubbish
and not throwing their rubbish out of the window. If there weren’t good citizens, then our environments would be like a
landfill with 10kms worth of rubbish.
A good citizen
is honest and helps other people. They are also a person who does the right
thing and follows the rules. If people
didn’t follow the community’s rules things might get broken, people might get
hurt and the community might not be a community anymore.
It is important
to respect others in our community. We
show respect by caring for others, listening and treating people kindly.
Communities are
made up of people that are diverse. For
example, our class is diverse because we are all from different
countries and we look different.
We
believe that being a good citizen is important because it means we can live in
peace. If everyone was a good citizen
and we were helpful everyone will have a happy life. If we weren’t good citizens it wouldn’t be a
very nice place to live and the world could get destroyed.
Our
definition is extended abstract because we have several ideas that we have
explained and then we thought about citizenship in a new way.

Family Feelings
For reading we read a journal article about what we like about our place in our family. We then used the app Stripe Design to show our thoughts.
